Two days ago my friend Komang invited me over to her house for lunch as she usually did every other week when she's not working or has a driving lesson to attend, so I went there and there was another person in her living room, she said she forgot to tell me about this person that was also coming, Her name's Suliani and she's also an indonesian but from Medan and a chinese girl who used to live also in Singapore just like me. I kind of glad meeting another indonesian in the UK, she also told me that she lives nearer to my house, which makes me glad too as it's walking distance.
It was a nice meeting and lunch, Komang is a great cook, I love her cooking and I do like that we are getting more closer now, I guess I don't know yet about my new friend but we'll see if we clicked just like me and komang.

....in the UK that is, after the back garden has finished, finally...we could celebrate it by having a barbeque, of course the guests of honor would be hubby's parents who contributed alot in paying the gardener. It was also a celebration of my 1st year in the UK, tomorrow would be my first time stepping down from the plane last year in the UK, how time flies quickly!
Anywayz, just a quick update as I'm very tired and just wanted to upload the pics i've taken. We had duck spring rolls for starter, barbequed prawn with peppers and marinated chicken for main course and raspberry ice cream for desserts and lots and lots of gin and tonic with lemonade drinks.
That's it...going to rest now...
well I'm too early saying it but I gotta post this as me and hubby were invited by his parents on sunday to have lunch together and she told me about the tradition of Pancake's Day that was suppose to be on Tuesday, i think she said hehe. Unfortunally hubby's dad had an urgent matter to attend coz when we arrived at their house, he wasn't there so my mother-in-law entertained us the whole day. She made pancakes for us after we had baked beans, minced beef and dumpling stew with steamed veggies and potatoes. I absolutely love pancakes! I might have a go making it myself this week.
I think we stayed at their house for almost 5 hours and then took our leave around 4pm. Hubby is going to have his 44th birthday on Friday, I'm trying to plan something for him, not sure what to give him as a birthday gift as I'm not working yet so I am not earning any money and if I did take some money from him that means he's giving himself a gift, hehe so I'm thinking of making him something, we'll see then.
I'll make it simple and short as I'm tired now and wanted to make a cup of hot chocolate and curl up on the sofa downstairs while watching The Dog Whisperer, I've been missing that show for a few days now.
Hubby's parents invited me to have lunch with them in town at Wetherspoon Pub today, I took a bus from home and went to their house first before all of us walked to town as it's close by from their house, we had a quick walk around the markets in town that they have every wednesday but couldn't find anything interesting worth buying so we headed straight to the pub, had gin & tonic coz dad-in-law wanted a drinking partner, we're both love our G&Ts, mom-in-law as usual had her tea, I managed to recorded a video without them knowing it while they were ordering some food hehe.
After lunch, we stopped by at HMV shop as my sister-in-law is going to have her birthday in march so we were trying to find some Cds that she might like for a present, I havent thought what to give her yet but then again hubby will take me out to town again on saturday so we'll think of something for a gift, hopefully we'll find something that she might like.
We walked back to their house and had some tidbits and tea and half an hour later, I told them I'd better get home before dark as hubby couldn't pick me up today from work. I'm beat tired and going offline now. Till next time..
I met up with Komang again yesterday, Im beginning to feel at ease taking bus these days and roughly know how much I should pay, she and her daughter picked me up at the bus stop and we walked back to her house, we spent the day at her house coz her daughter wasn't feeling well, we watched some cartoon which I enjoyed much coz it was funny, She made me "Nasi Rawon" for lunch, I absolutely loved it as I have been missing Indonesian food. She is a very nice lady, we talked and talked for hours, seems like Im beginning to know her alot now and we do have something in common.
I had to go at 4pm as my hubby text-ed me coz he was on the way back from work, I walked to my parents-in-law's house which is near Komang's house coz I usually go shopping every tuesday with hubby and mom-in-law. Hubby picked us up there then we went to Sainsburys. My Mom-in-law invited me to have lunch with her and her husband in town today, so I'd better go and clean the house first before I could go out of the house. Till later...
On Valentine's day we had a fight, yup instead of celebrating it or be lovey dovey, we had a big fight. You see a few months ago we were invited by my hubby's colleague to his wedding, I was so looking forward to it, it would give me a chance to get to know more of hubby's colleagues and others and I also wanted to know how they do wedding traditionally here in the UK, it's something I want to experience so yes I was excited about it, I kept talking about it to hubby but on the day we were supposed to go which was yesterday on Valentine's day, he got sick (again) mind you that wasn't the first time he got sick whenever we were invited to an event, on Christmas dinner that was held by hubby's company last year, we also couldn't make it coz he suddenly fell sick. When we were in Jakarta and I was so looking forward and already promised my best friend to get together in a Cafe, he was also suddenly fell sick so I had to say sorry for not meeting her and other friends. Okay once and twice, I was worried and tried to take care of him as he was sick but third time? I was starting to wonder if he did it purposely coz he's the type who doesn't like to go out alot. Anyways, yes we had a fight but it's over and done with and we made up this morning, so he's suddenly feeling fine but I just couldn't get angry anymore coz it's not worth it, we decided to celebrate our valentine's day today by cooking a steak with veggies and potato wedges, we bought lemon sponge pudding for dessert and well I'm glad we're back to lovey dovey.
Last week, our dvd player has gone Kaput, hubby was upset coz he likes to record some TV shows that he loves and so he decided to buy online from Amazon and that gave me an opportunity to nag again ( I've been nagging since a few months ago) about buying me a mobile phone as I would need it if I wanted to apply for jobs or if I got lost and had to phone him at work or my parents-in-law to give me direction, well truth to tell when I was in Jakarta I couldn't live without mobile phones, most people there even have 2 or 3 mobiles at the same time, I used to have one GSM for international and internet and one CDMA for local.
My darling hubby never had a mobile phone in his life, he always told me he has never needed one until now, he wanted to find one with GPS for me so I could easily find my way if I ever got lost, bless him coz he really does take good care of me and worried about me if I wanted to go out by myself. He decided then to find two mobiles for me and himself, so finally when he ordered online for his dvd, he also bought two phones for us that we've been browsing since a few weeks ago and found it on Three site, as I wanted it to be cheaper and without contract, I don't want to over use the phone as I'm not working yet and hubby is the only one who does.
So today, I'm so happy that the phones and the dvd player arrived at the same time, I already put them for charging for few hours before using them, if you're reading this darling, I wanted to thank you and I love you. I guess that's going to be my valentine's day gift and it's perfect!
Yesterday I went out for the 2nd time to meet my new friend Komang, it was my 2nd time taking a bus here in UK, she was taking me to town as she and I needed to buy some stuff and she also needed to return some books to the library in town that she borrowed for her daughter.
Once there she took me first to several Job Centers to find me a job, well I didn't get it though, no surprise with the recession going on right now, so we went shopping at Debenham.
Well I'm going to cheat for the first time, hehe actually I took this pic yesterday on sunday after lunch, I invited my parents-in-law for a sunday lunch at my place, when me and hubby were sick a few weeks ago, my MIL came and took care of us, she did the dishes and made some food for us, so hubby and I decided to invite them over as an appreciation, when my fridge was broken and had to call a repairer, my FIL went to my house to accompany me to watch over the repair guy, so yesterday, it's our turn to cook them a special lunch and made them relax even just for one day, I made them a Japanese dish called Teppanyaki which my FIL loved so much coz he said it reminded him when he went to sea and stopped over in Japan, as for dessert, we served them English Sponge pudding with custard.
Yesterday, I went to meet my new friend that I met in Facebook, she's an Indonesian too who lives in the same town I live here in Worthing, I must say I'm glad I finally found someone that I could ask alot of questions about life in the UK and also someone whom I could talk to using Indonesian language. Yesterday was also the first time for me to take on a bus trip in the UK alone, I must say I think I got the hang of it and might go out more by bus to town by myself in the future hehe.
Komang is a nice lady, she's from another part of island in Indonesia called Bali the most popular and beautiful island in Indonesia while I'm from the Java Island, so basically we have different dialect but we're all taught Indonesian language at school, I couldn't use the city slang with her though as she's speaking in correct indonesian language with Balinese accent and occasional english words as she's been living in the UK for 10 years and already a british citizen since 2 years ago, she told me about her life and how she met her englishman hubby in Bali and about their only daughter Tasha, She made me Indonesian food for lunch which I long for, I was so happy! I got alot of useful information on what I should do or go to now that I'm in the UK. She's also willing to help me to familiarize myself in Worthing and so we're going to meet again next week! Thank You Komang!
